What is in the room

Ten machines, and everything around them

Six washing machines, four dryers, six ozone generators. And then the baskets, the chairs, the folding table, the light: the things that stop half an hour here feeling like half an hour in a launderette.

The machines

All fitted when the place opened in October 2025, all with ozone disinfection, without exception and without a surcharge. They are high-performance professional machines: the final spin leaves laundry nearly dry, which is drying time you do not pay for afterwards.

7 kg machines

The week's washing. A 32-minute cycle at €4.50, detergent and softener included.

2

18 kg machines

A double duvet actually tumbles in there instead of sitting packed. €9.50.

4

13 kg dryers

Fifteen minutes at €1.50, with a wide drum so the laundry turns instead of tangling.

One per washing machine, with the detergent and softener drums built in underneath.

What makes the half hour bearable

Every launderette has machines. The difference is everything around them, and that is where the money goes.

51-litre baskets

Big enough to empty an 18 kg machine in one go. Turn up with a plain bag and the basket does the rest.

Two proper chairs

Not makeshift stools: somewhere to sit for thirty-two minutes without checking the clock every five.

No sun on the windows

The tree-planted garden opposite shades it all day. Even in a heatwave, the room stays bearable.

A folding table wiped down daily

Large, central, with hooks along the side to hang your bags while you fold.

Lighting with no dark corners

Ceiling lights the full length of the room and a strip above the machines: you can see what you are sorting, even at 10pm.

Cleaned several times a day

Not once in the morning and good luck until closing: the place is cleaned several times a day, bin included. It is the first thing 55% of the Google reviews mention.

The technical detail, in four points

A serious spin, so less drying to pay for

These are high-performance professional machines, not domestic ones parked in a shop. Every cycle ends on a very high-speed spin that pulls the water out instead of leaving it in the fibres: laundry comes out of the drum nearly dry.

  • Laundry comes out thoroughly spun, with very little water left to evaporate.
  • One €1.50 dryer cycle is often enough, where elsewhere it would take two.
  • Less time in the heat also means less wear on a jumper or a pair of jeans.

Five cameras and a monitored alarm

The room is filmed continuously, including when the door is locked at night, and an alarm triggers automatically if anyone forces the entrance. That is what makes the place usable alone, late, without looking over your shoulder.

  • Five cameras covering the whole room, machines and parcel lockers included.
  • An automated intrusion alarm, with an immediate alert on my phone.
  • Recording around the clock, available if something happens.
  • Help reachable at the same time, by phone or WhatsApp.

Suspended tubs, so a quiet room

The tub is not bolted to the frame: it sits on springs and dampers inside the machine. That is what changes everything at spin time.

  • The vibration is absorbed by the machine instead of travelling into the floor.
  • It is what allows the high-speed spin: full tilt, without shaking the room.
  • No machine needs bolting to a concrete slab, and nothing moves during the cycle.

Six languages, on the terminal and on the machines

The 22-inch central terminal is where you pick your machine and pay. Then you go to the machine, choose your cycle on its own screen and press start. Both screens speak the same six languages.

  • Six languages on the terminal, on the washing machines and on the dryers.
  • Card, contactless, phone, watch, cash and the app, all in one place.
  • A 22-inch screen, readable with a basket in your arms.

And while the machine runs

Thirty-two minutes is short for going home and long for standing about. Two places, less than a minute's walk away.

Square Paul Paray, right opposite

A tree-planted courtyard, benches in the shade and a playground. It is also what keeps the launderette cool: the greenery opposite stops the sun hitting the windows, even in a heatwave.
